Dallas rockers, The Boom Boom Box, will be celebrating their CD release party on Saturday, January 21, at the LaGrange in Dallas. This album, entitled Until Your Eyes Get Used to the Darkness, is the band's first full-length release. Produced in the summer of 2011, it is the long anticipated follow-up to their 2008 debut EP, The Boom Boom Box.
The Boom Boom Box found inspiration their name from the lyrics of the Echo and the Bunnymen song Heaven Up Here. This eight member ensemble features musicians from several of Dallas' finest rock groups - Baboon, Pleasant Grove, Pinkston, Falkon, Ghostcar and Sarah Jaffe. Any music guru that owns records from these bands should check out The Boom Boom Box.
Here is their lineup:
- Mike Rudnicki – Guitar
- Clay Stinnett – Drums
- Tony Hormillosa – Bass
- Ean Parsons – Guitar
- Andrew Huffstetler – Vocals
- Jeff Ryan – Keys, Drums
- Chris Mayes – Keyboard, Lap Steel, Trombone, Guitar
- Sean Donovan - Keyboard
Their psychedelic rock sound will blend easily with the other bands playing that night, New Fumes (headliner) and Dove Hunter. New Fumes band members stem from Comet, Day of the Double Agent, Ghostcar and Sivad. Dove Hunter is made up of members from Sub Olso and Mandarin.
Tickets for the event are only $7 (plus $1.50 service fee), and they can be purchased here. Doors open at 8pm, and the bands start rocking at 9pm. Leave the kiddos at home - this is an 18 and older show.
With tickets this cheap, no one should turn down this show. While you are there, be sure to pick up your copy of Until Your Eyes Get Used to the Darkness. I'd be willing to bet that they sell out at the show.
