As a Dallas native, I have attended several Polyphonic Spree concerts, and let me tell you, they are definitely a musical and spiritual awakening. Once again, they are planning what they are dubbing their New Year's Eve Spectacular on December 31. It will surely be a show not to miss. The Polyphonic Spree always put together a concert that really lifts your spirits. How can someone be in a bad mood after seeing a rock concert with a band leader who wears a choir robe? Lead singer Tim DeLaughter really knows how to make an entire room light up to celebrate the gift of music.
The first time I ever saw The Polyphonic Spree was back in 2000. I was actually on a first date with my now husband. The music was so uplifting, that I left the show feeling like a renewed person. It made me fall in love. I bought their first album, and I have been listening to them ever since. You can see that The Polyphonic Spree definitely have a special place in my heart.
No other rock show will present you with an amazing lead singer, huge back-up choir, flute, trumpet, French horn, trombone, keyboard and numerous other backing instruments. They barely fit the stage, and their sound is more powerful than any other group out there. Every member in the band puts all of their energy into each performance. Sweat drips in buckets off each player. My jaw always drops as I watch their brass players play continuously without a break. They must have lips of steel.
The opening bands for the show include the ever popular Centro-Matic and Deathray Davies. Both of which have already made a huge impact in Dallas music ever since the 1990s.
Tickets for the December 31 New Year's Eve Spectacular can be purchased from Live Nation. They range in price from $25 to $40. Doors open at 8 pm at the House of Blues. This show is for all ages, so don't forget to bring the kids!
I will be buying my tickets, and I hope to see some of you there! There is no better way to ring in the New Year.
