On Tuesday, January 31, Dada Dallas will set the stage for an intimate performance by several frontmen of somewhat once popular rock groups. Known collectively as the Where's the Band? Tour, this show will feature these vocalists without their regular backing ensembles. They will each perform a solo set on acoustic guitar - similar to the MTV Unplugged series.
The Where's the Band? Tour has been a hit with music lovers for a few years running. Each time around, they select a different bunch of artists to perform. It gives these musicians a chance to reconnect with their fans, and another shot at getting their name in the public eye.
Among those set to perform in 2012 are:
- Ace Enders from The Early November.
- Matt Pryor from The Get Up Kids
- Evan Weiss from Into It. Over It.
- Chris Conley from Saves the Day
- Anthony Raneri from Bayside
I am not going to lie - I am not familiar with any of these groups or frontmen. My music fanatic husband only recognizes The Get Up Kids and says that they were somewhat big in the early 2000's. My lack of knowledge, however, will not stop me from checking out this show. I am always curious to learn about musicians I have never heard of before.
What really draws me to this tour is the fact that each artist will be extremely naked and exposed. With no backing band, it will be easy to tell who is the best musician of the group. I also love that the small stage at the Dada will make it easier to connect with each performer.
Tickets are on sell now and can be purchased here. They start at $14 in advance, but the price will go up to $16 at the door. The show starts at 7:30pm.
